Alpine MRD M1000 or MRD M1001 ??

I was looking to buy an M1000 to custom install with my T320's so as to have a "one amp" look, as these all have the same chassis design, but a mate of mine at Alpine said forget the uniformity and get the M1001 because it's got more grunt and will drive the Type X 1242D sub with more control and will sound better.......

Anybody know of these two being compared ? I want the right look, but if there's an audibly apparent difference, I'd rather go for the M1001.I don't need any of the new DSP functions it might have, as I'm doing all that from my head unit anyway.

The specs look virtually the same as far as I can tell...you guys heard any thing either way......mmmmmmm ???
