What are the benefits of the 880 vs DEH-P7800MP?

FAR MORE tuning ability go to pioneers website and compare, its also has dual l and r seperate control and level, AWESOME/perfect ipod interface auto eq,better looking (to me anyway)...just make sure you buy it from a place WITH A WARRANTY FROM PIONEER or itself i bought one back in may and it was doa...but i am getting another because it is worth it...they are in the high 280+ on ebay...however if colour is a big deal then you have to get the 7800 but i dont care about colour display and changable screens.

your best bet is to go with alpine. it produces a very clean signal and is very dependable. i've owned sony,pioneer, jvc,kennwood, and the only h.u. that could match alpine is eclipse. eclipse's are ugly as hell though

thats a matter of opinion,i always had sony and never had any problems with any of the sonys i have ever owned. I would have gotten another but the 06 line is junk and the 05 i wanted i couldnt find,so i went with eclipse it was DOA,so i went with pioneer. I have a kenwood now and if you are doign anything ipod stay away from kenwwod. the interface sucks

you really cant go wrong with any of those brands... ive had bad experinces with pioneer's cheaper hu's but if you're in the 300 range you should be ok, as thier better ones are good... i personally am an alpine fan, but just chose whichever you like best, you will most likely be happy with any of those

dude i had that high dollar sony- the one were you can down load a pic to the front face and it sounded like hell. you can tell a big difference between sony and alpine. the built in mosfet amps in the sony is pure garbage. dude, stop bullshiten and get an alpine

sony is not pure garbage,and you are an idiot if you belive that..their older hu's were better then some of the "highend" ones out today..however their new stuff is not very good,but i would take a c-90 over any one of the hus he listed anyday.

AND IF THOSE 90% are losing what the hell do i care what hu they use? the SONY c90 and c910 go look it up....those hus are not garbage. a lot of sonys hu's are not garbage,but their 06 line is lacking all over the place. So go bash those all you want,since ive not owned an 06 sony i wont defend them, but the older sony stuff was not garbage...youre just one of those people that bash sony because you just want to say they are junk,just like most other people.....and if you buy a low end sony then replace it with a high end alpine of course youll say its junk,but pound for pound and dollar for dollar ill take a sony over most. and ill have it long after your eclipse/pioneer/kenwood has died. 3 of my last sony decks i sold to friends and they are all still working fine. but my 8445 is dead and missing and 880 is in the shop,and you want to say sony is bad? their mobile ES line was/is awesome...

i got this hu collecting dust in my basement- the sound is garbage. eq on flat paired up with a dqx and still garbage, snatched it out replaced with a alpine 9835. thank-you ALPINE!!

then maybe the rest of your stereo was junk and the sony was too good for it so a lower end hu would pair better with a bunch of crap....your welcome.

the only reason why sq competitors use alpine is because of the H701, not necessarily the alpine HU itself. although alpine do make some nice HUs. but the processor is the best in the market right now so hence most of them use alpine HU to match.

to the OP, i'd get the pionner 880prs. 16 band graphic eq per side is nice. plus active capability as well. probably the best bang for the buck tuning HU out there.

Agreed completely. Just because a brand is more popular does not mean it is a better head unit. Denon and Nakamichi are 10X the deck of ANY Alpine (not counting F1 that is) but you will not see them at the competitions. Why? Well its certainly not because they aren't worthy. Its just that they're not popular in the states anymore. So saying a deck is better just because its more popular and more widely used is a pretty weak argument at best. Personally, I would like a deck that not too many people have.
