Alpine KCA-620M question

I want to buy this item (Alpine KCA-620M). But i want to be sure it will be covering everything that i need it to do.

I have a huge mp3 collection am talking 40gig of mp3. Since i work as computer programmer i made my self a software so i can rate each mp3 then generate a playlist of the best track on each album that i own.

Almost every week i get a new album and my playlist may change and i don't want to burn cd or dvd everytime i add 1 or 2 song (Note that the total size of all my best tracks is over 5gig)

First i wanted to use the ipod connector but since i have to used itune to send the mp3 to the ipod, the software that have done will be useless and i will have to pass throw my 40gig of mp3 and redo my 'best track' playlist.

So my idea was to buy a slim portable hard drive that can hold 120gig of data then connect it to the KCA-620M that will be connected to my alpine HU (IVA-W200).

1st question : Does this work with portable hard drive or only mp3 players ?

2nd question : Will i be able to use the quick search on the head unit ?

3rd question : Will i be able to read the m3u file (the playlist that i create with my software it work fine with Media player, itune ...)?
