Alpine iva-c800 help

I am installing the iva-c800, I have it in and powered up. I am not getting any volume. When I press the source button and then try to access the more advanced features the function 4 button is dimmed out - Does anyone know why the button would be dimmed out and not functioning?

Thanks,

John

IIRC you can just ground that wire because thats all it does anyways. Take a DMM and check that the amp inside of it isnt blown. I had a 9831 cd player that the internal amp blew on and that was a pain to figure out.

ok the IIRC is the parking brake - right -

and to make sure the amp in the brain isn't blown check for signal where?

If i just ground the parking brake won't that disable any video i may want to use in the future?

Thanks for all this great help.

IIRC means if I remember correctly.

I remember being told somewhere by the alpine guy that you have the parking brake wire so you cant use the video while you ae driving. But all the parking breake does is activcate a ground when you pull it, so all you need to do is ground that wire. Also inside there is a bypass switch too, in my 9831 it was in the setup menu, im not sure where it would be on this unit.

If the internal amp is blown then when you test the leads for it there would be minimal voltage and tons of resistance...I think. I cant remember totally how I checked before without playing around with it.

maybe someone else will know!

Well after tues night till 3am and tonight till 1am all is well!!! everything is working. Drained my battery, but after a jump and a quick spin aroung the block things are working like a real pro installed it.

FYI my problem - the factory amp need to know to go on, i had to splice into the on star and np. I found the wire for the parking brake and hooked that up. Just grounding it will not work, whatever. Maybe a purchase for the pac 7? thing might be in my future. Believe it or not I had ordered the harness adapter from crutchfield and called them because I check the output from the unit and it was puting out sound. When I told the crutchfield guy this, he knew right away what to do. Pretty great service, wished it was in the instructions though.......

Thanks for everyones help, I post somepics this weekend if i have some time.
