My cousin and I worked all week on his install in his trunk. We used peal and seal to sound proof, and then made fiberglass boxes and eventually made an amp rack with extra MDF that we had.

System Includes:

HU: CDA-9851

Subs: 2 SWR-1222D

Speaker Amp: MRV-f345

Sub Amp: MRD-M1005

Front: SPX-177R

Back: SPR-69LP

60 Gig Video Ipod with interface

Heres the album of some pictures of the process. I started to take fewer pictures as I went along...

There is still some more work to be done to make it a little cleaner, but I think it is pretty good for a first time effort. Neither of us had done any boxes, wood or fiberglass.

Lemme know what you guys think

It sounds really nice. There is a little bit of rattle that could get annoying, but nothing that a well placed roll of peal and seal couldnt take care of. Im not sure how big the boxes are, but there is plenty of room to turn the subs around and mount them the other way.

I was just going to ask how big the boxes were:uhoh: , is there enough airspace for the subs. Where is the rattle coming from.

Im thinking the boxes are about 2 ft^3 each. Im not sure though, and I cant really find out now. There is a little bit of rattle on the outside of the trunk, where there is that black plastic piece. There is also some on the back deck, and every now and then a little coming from the door panel. We have P&S everything else. We did that in August when we installed his speakers/HU.

wow.... My cousin just called me to say that his car is now totaled. He got into a wreck on valentines day, but he took it by a body shop to get a quote which was 2400. However, today, insurance came by and said that it was totaled. So all that work was for about a month and a half of listening.....bleh

We had completely rewired, sound deadened, etc the entire car, and then this install in the trunk all in the past 6-8 months. The trunk install was the last step and we finished that at 6 AM New Years day. Oh well, I guess I can do anythign about it, we will probably do his new car over the summer, but dont have the will power to go through all that again right now.
