I bought an Alpine CDA-9815 from Good Guys with a warranty valid until 2009. It's officially broken as of today.
Called Good Guys, and they won't have a installer until next week. They said I can send in the item for service (under warranty), but it will take a few weeks (4-6). Also, they won't give me a temporary unit unless they have something open box.
My other option is to replace it for a NEW item of comparable quality. He will credit me my original purchase price of the unit, but in doing so I loose the 5-year warranty. Should I give up my warranty for a new unit or should I send my 9815 in for service? If I get a new unit, which Alpine model should I ask for?
The CDA-9835 seems to be closest (V-Drive, two line color display), but it is priced $100 higher than the 9815 was. Also the CDA-9855 has got a cool screen and is priced the same, but doesn't have the v-drive (I'll use separate amps so it's a mute point) and it uses a weird "GlideTouch" bar. What do you think?

Also, I checked out their website and they don't have any Alpine units. Do they still carry Alpine units? If not, what Pioneer unit should I get?
