Alpine F450 3ohm stable bridged?

Technically you cant bridge to anything less than 4 ohms to that amp, other wise it will go into protection. And I am guessing you are hooking up 3 subs? If they are 8 ohm thats going to make 2.6666 and 3 4ohms would be 1.6666. Unless you have 3 1 ohm subs, then yea.

So for that amp I would say that its not possible

I thought it was bostons, but either way.. if you bridge that amp at 3 ohms then techniacly it will have problems.

The amp could play for hours on end and never have a problem, or it may not even turn on at all. Generally once it gets warm the protection cirtuit will kick in and shut it off, if this happens enough times the protection circuit could fry on it. (seen it happen a few times)

Basically anything below 4 ohms means there is not enough resistance on the amp and the amp will work harder and produce more power than it was designed to, causing problems.

So no, I wouldnt do it if I where you.

Although alpines are pretty solid amps, and most people in the described situations are running at 2 ohms, your doing 3, so it would be interesting to see how it would work out.

Dang. Those Pro60s sounded oh so good at the shop too. I don't want to buy them and then have to get a new amp too.

Whoa crazy, I didnt even notice those where 3 ohm, thats wierd...
Yeah.... unfortunately. Do you think I should still try and get them? I mean, they sound amazing to me, but I don't want to get a new amp though.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Hmm... Well its not like the amp is working too much harder, but harder than its design to none the less.

The bostons are secksy, if you go for it you may want to attempt to call Alpine tech dep and talk to a few techs there first. But more than likely it will be some ******** over seas who gets under paid, hates his job and has an accent to thick for anyone other than someone from his native country to understand. But you may get lucky and talk to someone who knows what they are talking about.

I found this:

Audio Products Technical Support

(Alpine Electronics of America, Inc.)

(800) TECH-101 (1-800-832-4101)
