I am in the market for the CDA-9887.

I see them available from some Ebay suppliers for around 300.00 or just a bit over.

As I looked through their feedback its not so great. One had 9 negatives last month.

I would like a good deal but am concerned that these suppliers do not offer a warranty and/or are not an authorized retailer (which I figure they are probably not).

Sonicelectronix has it for 349.00.

Tempted to go with Sonic since they are a quality retailer.

Where did you get yours and did you have any issues with out of stock, shipping, used/open box or anything else?

Let me know what your experience is.

Thanks FJF.I will do that and see.

Thanks for the link too.
Shoot me a PM, if I can be of help, or stop by CA-F.com. I'm an older guy, too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

you are joking right?
other than the misquote saying it has a 2 band eq instead of a 5 band the 86 is actually a more feature rich unit, so if you can you read here it is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif :

and the alpine rep told me the same thing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

You're fighting a losing battle. I hope you own some Nomex.

i bought my 9887 from crutchfield with overnight shipping.

i had tried to order it from numerous different websites but after the order i would find out 3-4 days later that it would be out of stock. i just said **** it and over nighted that ****.

believe what you want. there is no comparison between the 2. the 9887 and it's abilities are far greater then the usb port on the 9886.

ive messed around with 86 deck at bestbuy and from what i could see all it had was a bass and treble + / - control..... not much tuning allowed on this deck... also what that link you posted doesnt show is that the 86 doesnt have the imprint kit... while the 87 comes with it

also a rep will just tell you what you want to hear to close a sale.... do alittle search between the two decks on this site and you'll find out why the 87 is a better deck as far as fine tuning your sound

FYI SicAudio is a dealer....Although you or I may not necessarily agree with his opnion.

ok I got my nomex on lolz here goes:

their are subtle differences in the deck and their are some better options as far as tuning on the 87 vs the 86 however the differences are not justifiable for the cost, if you wait 3 months, next yrs model will roll out and this deck you are in love with will be at a much better price.

and fyi the 86 has a ton more than bass and treble lolz it also has a 5 band eq (87 has 7), it has the bass engine where the 87 has media xpander (whoopy ) and most people are not running super high end components and equiptment to make it justifiable based on price.

now if you are using really good **** then hell yes buy it but for the mainstream Joe it makes no sense.

IMO

I got mine for $330 from woofersetc.com

They are a lil more expensive now. Customer service isn't top notch but at least they are authorized.

I consider myself a "mainstream joe" and i'm picking up the 87 over the 86 for one BIG reason. I can run my 2-way components actively on the 87 and not the 86. That is worth the $$$ difference to me in itself
