well, it is selling for 265 bucks online, so i was wondering if it is worth the price or if i should spend an extra $80 for a pioneer 880 or something? I need some advice on good head units.

There's plenty of great sellers here in the classifieds section. A lot of them have numerous references, so you can buy with confidence. Try looking on Craigslist as well, never know what you may find on there.

i have the 9886 for sound quality to me its better then the pioneer i have owned the pioneer also i like the alpine better i was a die hard pioneer h/u fan until my friend got me to get a alpine and i got a 9886 and it sounds awsome in my mustang i love the ipod and usb thumb drive inputs if you get one get it from crutchfield you get the wire harness and install kit free for 299.00 and shipping is free im selling mind for 200.00 barley used because my mustang is just a weekend good weather ride iv had the deck for 4 mounths and still all the original packaging email me at bappm@aol.com im getting the new alpine thats just for ipods that shows all the album art just like my ipod nano but hit me if intersted

i just need decent eq control, and i really want time allignment, but don't have to have it. Also, it needs to have a decent processor in it to make the music sound better. That's it.

Well the 9886 will not give you anything right out of the box except bass and treble.

The pioneer will give you EQ, TA crossovers all built into the unit without buying any additional equipment, the 9886 your looking at another $200 or so.

However everything you do with the alpine is going to be easier, ipod esp. They are much more user friendly...

x2 i like my alpine 9886 over every pioneer i have owned, the sound quality it puts out is way better than pioneer, pioneer distort horribly when you reach the max volume on the unit

Look at the CDA 9886 and the 9884 and try to figure out what specific feature or content there is there that justifies the 100 dollar retail price difference. I couldn't. The more I look, the more I think the 9886, 9884, and a couple other HUs I have to say I can't see much difference between the offerings under the 9887

I bought a used 9887 from someone here and it was in excellent condition. But I did meet up with him locally and checked it out before I bought it so I knew exactly what I was getting.

I definitely want to go alpine this time, so you are saying i should look into the 9884 and 9887? I could probably get the 9884 for around $200 so that would be perfect.
