Is this a good head unit? I am looking for something a little more high quality than my JVC HU. I want it to have lots of EQ options so i dont need to invest in a descrete equalizer. This do the trick? I found what seems to be a pretty good price on one. Is there something better in this price range i should be eyeing?

i have the 9857, and it doesn't have any eq options that i know of. I works great with a iPod, and the display is pretty nice, but the funstions are very limited.

I really like my 9857 because of the ipod thing but as far as EQ the options are really limited. I think it's a solid HU but if you're into alot of EQ then I'd look at something else.

yeh, alpine has fallen down since their 9835 (i think that's the one). I think the 9835 had the EQ settings. Their 06 lines are nothing to brag about. You can go with Eclipse. They make good HUs. As for EQ, you might wanna double check if it has EQ functions. I am pretty sure they do, because you don't get any plainer than the Alpine HUs.
