Alpine CDA-9857 Question

I am having issues with my Alpine CDAA-9857 stereo in which sometimes when the volume is set to let say 19-20 when listening to a song it will cut out until we lower the volume. Is there a setting or something that can be set to allow us to turn the volume up higher? We noticed that the speaker volume goes up to like 30. This is especially noticible when we have our MP3 player attached via the external cable but it does do the same thing when listening to the radio. thank you for your help.
