Alpine CDA-9855 and Quick Search with iPod?

I got my 9855 installed on Friday and according to the manual if I hold down the search button (the one that looks like a pile of paper or something) for 2 seconds while on the iPod screen I go into Quick Search mode, but nothing seems to happen. Is this feature not really in there, or did I do something wrong?
