Alpine CDA-9847, I cannot control my sub

Just this past winter I noticed one day when I tried to turn down the bass on my sub woofer, that it was not lowering the level and it could not be raised either. The head unit displays that the level is going down, but the bass is not lowering with it. I have lost control over the sub woofer even though it is working, just it is too loud. Does anyone know why this could be happening and how to fix it?

How are the amps wired?

quite possible that you have the subs RCA line coming out of the "Rear" output instead of the "Sub" out put on the head unit. with that, the bass coming out of the "Rear" if still making it's way to the amp, then on the amp you probably have the Low pass settings on which is cutting out the vocals and highs and such that would normally go thru with the "Rear" output.

that's my theory.

It seems like that would make the most sense, but I was able to lower the levels and it just suddenly stopped working. I have to wait for it to not rain when Im done with work so I can do this stuff outside. Parents are out of town and left a car in the middle of the garage with no keys.

Thanks for pointing that out. I guess when I was messing with it one day I switched it around and never noticed.
