Alpine CDA-9833 not reading Ai-NET

I have an Alpine CDA-9833 head unit, equiped with the Ai-net. I have recently bought a cable that is Ai-net to 3.5mm so I can hook up my mp3 player. I have the cable attached to the head unit via the Ai-net and the 3.5mm end plugged into my mp3 player. The aux. mode is on, but I recieve no audio from the mp3 unit. Can anyone please help, or do I need a completely new head unit for this?

Did you flip the Ai-Net switch on the bottom of the HU?

Ya what he said and there is also a aux enable and disable setting as well I believe.
