At present I have a Alpine CDA-7876RB HU...

I am looking at upgrading to a Alpine CDA-7998 also looked at this model CDA-7897.

What I am needing is any out there that has one, could they please tell me what they are like?

I am looking at importing myself one. at 550 USD it's really cheap!.

Also can someone pls tell me the FM freq's as they may differ from the USA. New Zealands is FM 87-107 (khz?).

Any help would be great.

Cheers

usa uses the same frequencies, so it won't be a problem. I personally have the 7893, i think it's 2 steps down from the 7897, but anyways, i've fiddled around with the 7998 in the store, and i'm very impressed; they are awesome hu's. i wish i would have held out and bought one, but my old hu broke and i just wanted one that worked at the time. now i'm in debt $700 with my dad for buying a paintball gun and a bunch of fun accessories.

PS thanks for the reply!

nope, wasn't an angel, although i wish it was. actually, if i could have any gun, i would've gotten a cold fusion autococker, specifically this one http://supercocker.com/markers/ultrablue.htm.

anyways, i bought an 03' autococker(blue), a revolution II hopper, a 12oz aluminum tank, and then the bottom line setup and stuff, and all that plus tax(and 500 paintballs) turned out to be like $520. And then like 2 weeks ago, i bought a 68ci carbon fiber 4500psi air america armaggedon tank off ebay for $200, so i'm working with that for right now. I'm hopeing(sp?) in the near future i can get a rock reg and a shocktech 3-way, but i don't think so considering i'm in debt sooooo much, and i don't have a job.

I bought a 7897 a few months ago, as well as some mb quart discus components.. very nice sound quality. I believe the THD is .01.. correct me if I'm wrong, but it's some rediculous number. I believe the main differences between the 7897, and the 7998 is the look of the face, as well as the preamp in the 7897. If you want to spend the money, the 7998 has a sweet look when it's on.. you'd just need to amp up your speakers.

Yeah I am looking at the CDA-7998 as I already have two huge amps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks for the replies peeps

The 7998 has way upgraded RCA connectors trickled down from the F#1Status stuff. The 7998 also has a cool feature called i-personalize, which allowed me to setup all sound tuning on the computer then burn to disc, and automatically upload into the head unit. The 7998 is definitely better sounding than the 7897. Either one you can't go wrong.

Where does one get this cool software that allows one to do the to the HU? Or does it come with the HU?
