Alpine cda 117 usb issue. possible new headunit suggestions

i have 2 alpine cda 117 headunits in 2 different cars that are doing the same thing. both headunits will start playing music then intermitently for no reason pop code saying no usb unit. then start playing. the one is worse then the other. does it with any usb memory stick i put it in. but the sticks will stay lit even when it says no usb unit. anyone else have this issue. do the newer alpines do this too?

may be time for a new headunit. must have a blue display or one i can change color, 3 pre outs (4v and up) , single din.prefer fold down face with cd player behind face. no fold out screens.
