Alpine amps

First off, i'm not trying to start any 5hit, so be cordial. Anybody had any experience with the new alpine mrx line? I am still trying to find about 1000wrms, that is efficient and at 2phms, for my ma-8's. the mrx m110 is looking pretty good. I now have a apsm1500, will the mrx be better/more efficient? Don't rag on it, at least offer decent/useful info.

On the efficiency end, I've got a feeling Alpine should be gentler on your electrical than the AP. If anything you know it will do at least rated as any Alpine amp I've ever had did at least 5 percent more than rated power. I'd say for the right price, it'd be a good buy. Just keep in mind, if you're looking at retail pricing, @SAZCLASSD ; has some beefier amps that are basically new for less and will definitely outperform that Alpine.

Just found an older mrp-1000 on eBay. Waiting for it to come so I can experiment with it.

One thing I have heard about Alpine MRP mono block amps is that internally they're implemented as a two channel amplifier bridged. This can't be good for efficiency (relative to more traditional mono amps), as each channel is seeing 1ohm impedance when you connect 2ohm subwoofer to the amplifier. This could explain some issues with overheating some people have been having with these amps. Having said this, Alpine MRP should do more than rated. I have seen a test that it does well over 900watt RMS with just 12.5V battery. It should give a lot more with 14.4V.

Personally, for efficiency reasons, I would have preferred the PPI P1000.1 or SoundStream TN1.1200D. Inside, they're the same amp, but PPI is slightly underrated. They should be good for about 1kwatt at 2ohm. These are good performers. Considering these are sold normally for around $200 online, I don't see a reason taking chances with audiopipes to save a few bucks.
