Alpine 9887 or 9886

I'm looking into a new head unit. Big alpine fan. Its either the 9887 or 9886 I was going to pick. Is the 6 band eq really worth it over the 2 band eq on the 9886?

Hi, I owned both decks (still have the 9887), and I liked them both. I believe that the 9886 was easier to use and visually pleasing. If you want to run active (3-way) the 9887 is the way to go. Also, the 9887 you can choose between a parametric or graphic eq. Overall the features in the 9887 were better for me. Hope this helps!

9887 has better features. SQ should be so close you cant tell a difference. The 9887 has the Imprint built in. The 9886 does not.

Had them both, I feel as if the EQ on the 9887 barely makes a difference if any. Compared to the old Pioneer 880prs I had, the 9887 EQ is garbage.

Ok but why? Its one thing to make a baseless claim, its another to make the claim and back it up.

Whats really great is the 9887 is a $300 unit. The 880/800PRS is a $500+ unit. Yet the 9887 is extremely close in SQ.
