So I recently picked up an Alpine 9887 and I when I got it hooked up I popped a CD in to test it out and it reads error. I figured oh it was a burned CD I'll try an original copy, same thing happens. So I try resetting it and different CD's finally get them to read but they play like they're being paused and unpaused continuously. If I turn it upside it improves but still not 100% right. Any ideas of what is wrong? Dirty laser? Or does it need repaired? Thanks

Are you trying regular CDs? It sounds like you're playing MP3 CDs which are encoded in a bit rate too high for the unit to decode.
yea I'm using regular CDs I even made sure to try out several original copies and several burned copies and keep getting the same thing
