Alpine 9885 bluetooth problem

I have an Alpine 9885. i've been playing mainly mp3 cdr's. i decided to try and stream music from my blackberry phone via bluetooth. (I use the hands-free phone feature, but have never tired 'bluetooth audio') i was able to establish the connection w. no problem, but there is noticeable distortion when the music is playing.

does anyone have any ideas for trying to remedy this?

btw, i have the kce-300bt bluetooth unit.
