alpine 9883 ipod problems

I picked up a alpine 9883 from my buddy and for some reason im having problem with the ipod playing.

When I try to play the ipod with the headunit the music only comes through the driver side.

But when I play a cd or something on the radio it plays in all the speakers.

I know the ipod is fine

So what do you think it could be ?

The wire?
