Alpine 9855 - How to change cd?

Finally got the right wiring harness, plugged it in, and everything works great....but I try to change the cd, so I push the eject button or w/e, the screen says "open" and the face itself comes out about 1/8 of an inch, it doesn't tilt or anything, just the whole face itself comes out, and I pushed the button again, and the screen reads "closed" but it didn't close, so I pushed it shut, it's motorized. I push the button again, the screen says "open" but nothing happens.

Am I retarded? Is there something I'm missing?

press open and pull the screen down by hand and then press the eject button behind the face/ thats how the 9887 was if i remember right....i feature i was not fond of at all

maybe i got the pull down by hand part wrong but isn't the cd eject button behind the face plate on the 9887/

On the 9887, the eject is in fact behind the face, reason why I use MP3 cds rather then normal 17 ish song ones.

There are no buttons at all behind the face plate itself...and yeah the unit is fully motorized.

I had the 9855, when you press the eject button the whole face should slide outwards and then down so that its like paralell to the floor so you can put hte cd in....so the head unit or motor inside is probably ****ed

there was a bad batch of the 9855s when they first came out. tons of people were having probs. maybe someone can correct me if i am wrong, but i think alpine went back and corrected this prob, with a new batch and a green sticker on the box or something like that. i would do a search and go back around the 2005 posts and check it out. where did you buy this from? i ran the 9855 for around 9 months and never had that prob. good luck, man

sounds like the unit is messed up. The face should motorize all the way down, and the CD self ejects.

i do remember some 9855 that had that problem, i believe the motor wore out too quickly or something like that
