Thank you so much ... that was FAST !! It was the second best deck i've ever heard , and if it had time alignment and 5 band parametric EQ .... it would have been THE BEST.

Don't remember the exact year ( about 6 yrs ago ) . There were only 100 made if I remember exactly right. They were ONLY offered for sale to dealers and reps.

Nope, the 7909 was the best unit from Alpine as far back as I can remember. I just bought my 7803s in 1992 but just drooled over the 7909; wished I spent the $$ on it back then but I was a little green behind the ears.

Notice how old school the 7909 is. It's a removable chassis, handles and all. Yep, we were hauling our stereos with us back in the days! None of this removable faceplate.

Nice of you to bring this up Blue. Hey that reminds me: two years ago I bought a mod 7803 from a guy who took good care of it and changed the internals to make it close to a 7909 as possible; he replaced everything and it look so new. I just packed it away and never tested it out. But I will now!

I owned my own car stereo store when this bad boy came out. An alpine factory rep actually came by to talk about up-coming products .... and that special 7909 deck. Hearing him speak , you REALLY knew Alpine pulled out all the stops when designing this one. They wanted to see just how much they could get from a single box CD Player .... and they DID. It was VERY expensive , and only offered to industry employees at first. I sure wish I could remember my serial # .... It was like 70 out of 150 or something like that. I REALY wish I had it back !!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I'm a little confused. I remembered the 7909 was made in qtys. in 1990s. Is the deck you're talking about an anniversary re-issue of the 7909 to celebrate Alpine's 20th year? If so, you don't have one of the original first run, correct?

And of course the question: why did you get rid of it!

I can uderstand the confusion ... Alpine did indeed make a re-issue of the original 7909 for the 20th anniversary of the HU itself. It was WAAAYYY better than the original was , and made in VERY limited quantities.

I sold it to a really great friend who had begged for it for over a year , THEN his car was stolen //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif Yes ... I could KICK myself HARD !!!!

was a good deck, I owned the original and a limited until a local rep begged pleaded and then came up with some stupid amount of cash to pry it away from me. Was a great deck, limited was allot nicer overall. great sq and no frills. It is a legend in it's time and as all legends, hyped beyond it's worth. would I won another? sure... just to say I have one again haha. The original I had went into an illusion audio demo car. no idea what the limited was used in.

Sounds like you want a 9835 haha //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Gee, I guess I better not tell anyone about the 7909 I have sitting in my bedroom that was revamped by Pyramid Audio (Chris Lewis), and had a new CD transport, new descreet components, as well as a heavier jumper wire between cicuit boards done 5 years ago, and never been used since, huh? It will be hooked up to Orion XTR amps...also never used..., and if I can swing the cash, Boston Acoustics Pro 10.5 LF 10's (4). Oh yea, a pair ofAudio Control EQTs.

If anyone would like to help me out, I need a 6 disc magazine for my 5959S changer, too.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
