alpine 7894 doesnt perform... help???

im kinda new at this. i just installed my new HU: Alpine 7894 on my '95 Eclipse. the speakers are all stock as i just got the car. i was really dissapointed when I 1st tested it. the sound wasnt as i expected. there was so little bass that my discman made more with my earphones. what can be the problem? i am sure this Alpine has more power to it. the only thing i can think of is the speakers. but doesnt it make a difference when i change the head units? the fact is, i dont think there was. I am planning to put in a system. but not that soon as i am short of cash. do help. i hope i am quite clear to you guys. thnx...

If nothing changes when you change head units, then its probably yours speakers. Your stock speakers wont produce very good lower frequencies.

hey, thnx. i opened up the back speaker and realised that it is some shit speakers. the older owner prob swapped them with his old car's ones. pisses me off. anyway, i've been thinkin of new speakers. i've posted my thoughts in the 'speakers' section. it is either Focals 165K2 or Crystal's 60s. check that message out man. thnx a lot.

I have a 7894 and it was like that for me at first too...its all in your bass engine....its hard to tweak right..but once you got it...it will turn into the best deck youve ever heard

with a HU and speakers --------there isn't going to be a great sound

what do you mean bass engine? i notice that it is hard to configure this HU altogether. i used to own a pioneer 740mp in my older car. thought i'd give alpine a try since all the reviews are way over. i guess its the speakers. will be gettin new ones soon.

I have the same deck you do. At first I had stocks and I thought i blew them so I replaced them with MA Audio Y3k 4x6 and 6x9. My first thought on the speakers were "THESE ****IN ****!!! I WOULD OF BEEN BETTER OFF TO BUY SOME JENSENS." They distorted and didnt play right...they just sounded really goofy. One day I figured Id go out and mess around with the deck...well about 20-30 minutes later I got it and I was like...Wow these sound preaty good. Im telling you...if it sounds like crap...it is your bass engine settings...mess around with it and all that good stuff...it will take a little time...but once you get it fine-tuned...youll really like it.
