Does anyone else have this problem? Ive owned, Mtx, Kicker, kenwood, Cadence...and they've all shut down after getting really hot after a while of playing them pretty hard, (though NOT at full volume)..ive had one that hasnt, my Old Zapco AG360......today was the 1st time my kicker has shut down, after playing it at 30/35 for about an hour...does one have to buy "super brand" amps in the same league as Zapco, USamps, Zed, and others to have a really reliable amp, or what?

thats really odd

I have owned more amps that I can remember and not one has ever shut down

even when it was 100 degrees here or on some of my 800 mile road trips of continuios playing..........

is amp getting sufficient cooling?

possibly could be the reason, as it is sitting under my back seats, though this one is long enough to be lifted off the floor, with about 2 inches under it should be fine...

If your looking for an amp that wont ever go into thermal, then take a look at the phoenix gold xenons. YOu can try to put it into thermal, but good luck trying to. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif This is considering you run it between 1-4 ohms ofcourse.

gains too high, running at too low impedance, insufficient cooling, could be any of those. Maybe mount amp somewhere not so confining, mount against rear seat?

well it is running at 3 ohms(BA pro 6.4) (but like i said before all the amps ive had before had the same problem running at 4 ohms), possibly could be the gain, I think cooling shouldnt be a problem, its up in the air under my seat

I've only ever shut an amp down once due to the unit going into thermal protect. It was a Yamaha YPA-700 that was driving a set of Pioneer coaxials in the doors of an '89 Sentra that I once had. It was close to 110 degrees out (not an exaggeration) and my A/C was on the fritz. The amp was under the driver's seat. I turned the stereo off then back on and it never gave me any trouble after.

No other amp I have ever owned/used has ever gone onto thermal protect mode. Every single amp you've ever had excepting that US Amps unit doing so leads me to believe it's in the install or the settings.

Not trying to bash....but your experience is the exception rather than the rule....it just doesn't make sense.
