All of the scamming. Is there something we can do?

As I said before requiring 100+ posts or having to be a user 3months+ on top of a feedback system like ebay for vbulletin (itrader) would help some. The biggest issue I see is I think a lot of us take the 'refs' in someone sig for granted, all you would need to do is go to an old For Sale thread find someone who sold something and has not logged in for a year or so and use them.
With itrader at least we know the refs are legit.. I am amazed at how many people I see jumping on big item things from people who have only been here a month or less such as 360, ps3, expensive subs, amps etc.

There are deals to be found here but I would not touch many of them with a 10' pole after seeing what has been going on here lately.

Goob probably is not around here enough to realize how bad it is.
I know there are many people that scam after having a lot of refs, but i have noticed this as well. How many people have been scammed on here for 360s in the last few weeks? And yet people are still jumping on any that are up for sale. I know im a bit of a newb on here, but i have been lucky to not have had any bad transactions up to this point. I personally make more money buying, trading, and selling on here then i would to scam people. Sure it would be a quick buck, but in the long run, its not worth it. People need to investigate the buyers, and not do business with people until legit feedback is made or found. When i first came on, i did a few smaller transactions to build up feedback, then was able to sell larger items. Too many people jump on things that are a "good deal." I actually almost fell for it with Bad95GT, who has yet to correct his wrongs.

Anyway, there has to be something we could do.

Whats with the no IP ban??

I would agree with a ban on buying or selling unless you have crossed at least 2,000 posts.

That would take enough time to achieve that it would prevent the quick buck scammers from posting for a few days and then running their scam.

As you can tell, I have suggested a plan that I wouldnt yet qualify for, but when I did finally hit 2,000 posts I would feel better about hopefully trusting the other guy not to cheat me so it would be worth it.

I've been here for almost 3 years and barely have over 1k posts...shit, I can't sell for another 3 years //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

I, as a seller, wouldn't want that. Maybe 500 substantive posts would do the trick.

Well after days and day of seeing the- I need to talk to you threads or "******" is a scammer threads, and hardly ANY "******" is a great seller, why is there nothing we can do about this? Is there anyway we can limit who posts in the FS sections or something?

I know in the DD forum they have it to where you have to be a certain member and it costs money but there is not many people on that site and not much activity so to pay money just to post a FS thread when I can on here with much more activity and for free is stupid but... Is there anything we can do?

I mean I know people should be a little bit smarter about who they are buying from but after the hundreds and hundreds lost and the fact that the scamming compared to the good sales ratio is THAT BAD.

Would the be anything possible we can do? I do not have a clue what that would be but maybe just to get it out there and maybe someone could think of somthing that would work..

Just a thought.
i like your sub box.

This will be another "****yado, ****yadon't."

Being scammed is usually hard to forsee, but I have to agree, that doing your own research is of the utmost importance. I refuse to even sell to someone that has no car audio installation experience. Also, I have had numerous deals, and have not spoken to a single buyer yet, as the telephone means nothing.

Sellers can always get around that restriction just by posting their outside email address in their ad.

Of course then you have to decide if you can trust the buyer.

Seems like common sense to me. I've wanted tons of things out of the classifieds but had to pass up on "good deals" because the people only had 50 or 200 posts worth of nonsense shit.

Jblanford sent me a blown amp after a month of having my money.
He hasn't replied to any of my messages.

Never know sometimes
I had that happen to me, luckily the sub was still under warranty.......But, I did have to spend an extra $40 to ship it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I wonder how many people actually PM the refs provided to get feedback. Also get a home & work phone number, call and talk to the person, get an email address, etc...

I passed up an HD315 a while back because the kid wouldn't talk to me on the phone. Turns out he wasn't a scammer, but he didn't get my $$$ as I can't trust someone who won't even speak to me.

I would also have NO problem in asking to talk to a young kid's parents if he still lives at home.

Just try to cover all your bases, and then keep your fingers crossed & hope your shit shows up...
