Well after days and day of seeing the- I need to talk to you threads or "******" is a scammer threads, and hardly ANY "******" is a great seller, why is there nothing we can do about this? Is there anyway we can limit who posts in the FS sections or something?

I know in the DD forum they have it to where you have to be a certain member and it costs money but there is not many people on that site and not much activity so to pay money just to post a FS thread when I can on here with much more activity and for free is stupid but... Is there anything we can do?

I mean I know people should be a little bit smarter about who they are buying from but after the hundreds and hundreds lost and the fact that the scamming compared to the good sales ratio is THAT BAD.

Would the be anything possible we can do? I do not have a clue what that would be but maybe just to get it out there and maybe someone could think of somthing that would work..

Just a thought.

There's not much you can do except investigate the other party as best as possible. We have seen long time and well respected members scam numerous times.

As far as a fee, what good does that do? So I pay $50 to register, then I take 10 people for $300 each......

I am a huge fan of talking to the person on the phone.
even if i am the seller.

you can never be too careful...
Very good idea, and not leave a message and get a return call, but get the actual seller direct on the line you call. Also do any searching you can to verify the physical address given, if you think you have a good address atleast you can travel and meet the person face to face if they try to scam you.

Last but not least look for the references, and if your doing paypal, do it with a credit card.

Years ago, when I delivered pizza, a new guy started to borrow money here and there. He would borrow $25, $50, even $100; he was always good for it.

One Friday, he came in and borrowed $100 from everyone on the down-low, we had about 35 drivers, myself included. He left on a delivery and never came back. He was normally off on Saturday, so it wasn't until Sunday that a few of us started *****ing and realized he had pulled the same scam on everyone!

His contact info was no good and his cell was disconnected. He worked there for about a month and probably had the whole thing planned.

u should have to have a minimum amount of posts like the 12 volt so if there is a caught scammer they cant just start a new username and start scamming
That would eliminate only a handful of scammers. If you look around, the majority have an assload of posts before they scam.

a couple hundred bucks is worth opening an account on a forum and then going back a year later to post ***** it up and then sell stuff. x10 forums and your set to roll in the dough

if you've been to some of the bigger buy/sell forums like the shoe forums such as ISS or w/e, they have a feedback system:

Positive / neutral / negative feedback as well as feedback comments

I'm not sure if you guys are able to incorporate it into our B/S forums, but itd be a great start...considering i just got scammed last week, thanks hemiscott.... -_-

As I said before requiring 100+ posts or having to be a user 3months+ on top of a feedback system like ebay for vbulletin (itrader) would help some. The biggest issue I see is I think a lot of us take the 'refs' in someone sig for granted, all you would need to do is go to an old For Sale thread find someone who sold something and has not logged in for a year or so and use them.

With itrader at least we know the refs are legit.. I am amazed at how many people I see jumping on big item things from people who have only been here a month or less such as 360, ps3, expensive subs, amps etc.

There are deals to be found here but I would not touch many of them with a 10' pole after seeing what has been going on here lately.

Goob probably is not around here enough to realize how bad it is.

personally if you cant talk to them on a phone with a legit telephone number i wouldnt buy. what i do is look their # up to see if the last names match at least and so forth. that way you at least have a legit contact.
