Air Ride Technologies

I've been looking for some place that does a quality adjustable air suspension for my 03 Montero Sport LTD. No luck as of yet.

I'd pay $3k without hesitation for a good kit that I can trust with my son's life.

Also looking for anything in the area of turbo/supercharger, with no luck.

I may just have to wait until my next vehicle.

if you cant figure what all fits together to run close to the best then i dont see you needing an air system. lines valves and bags all are straight forward so thats obvious as to what you need. if you dont know u need 2500 in the front and 2600 in the rear FOR MOST CASES ....you dont need bags. if you cant figure out how many of a certain size compressor you need for a certain size tank(s), you need to read up some. these are all basic deals that go in to a setup.

Like I said, each to his own...

I mean, what gives you the right to decide who should have what done to their ride or whatever...

Lots of people have more money than Skills or even time to build it...

Case in point... One of my friends has a 2nd Gen S-10, he doens't know much about Bags at all...

He hasn't even changed his own oil before...

Anyway, He ordered a Full Air Ride, Ride Pro E Setup and all the Suspension parts as one big kit....

He did all the wiring, plumbing of the switches, valves, comp tanks etc etc and had a shop do the hardware underneath...

He has had that setup for almost 2 years, has won numerous shows and has a blast Draggin the p!ss outta it in front of everyone...

Half the people that have cool sh!t don't have a clue about it, they just know they got it and its cool...

Thats goes for Stereos and HI-Perf Motor work too...

I dunno how many times I've been really interested in intrigued by someones setup and said, hey hows, such and such done? They either told me they didn't know, or were giving me so much B.S. I knew they didn't know....

if your speaking of links and all this i just dont see an ameteur installing one him or herself period.
You don't see an amateur installing them period?

Then you don't know many mini-truckers or custom enthusiests....

Go to Blazinlow.com s-seriesforum.com or s-10forum.com

There are seriously hundreds, if not thousands of young (and old) kids on there who can't afford a shop to do any of their work, so they attempt it...

Everyone I know thats done their bags was an amateur and did not know how to do it when they started...

I'm not saying they do the best or most professional looking jobs, but they atleast try... They are getting a start and learning how...

Do you think Jason (if you know who that is) from SuicideDoors.com was born knowing how to make ******* doors or all the bag brackets that he know churns out on a daily???

all my bracketry and notches will be done by a shop, only to have it towed home for the rest.or have a friend do the welding. i just dont like seeing bolt on equipment period
So, you are telling other people what they should or should not have, when you are planning on having someone else do the major or most critical part of your install...

I'll let that go, but I'd hope that if a shop puts on all your brackets and especially the Notch, that they do the welding... Not your friends...

Other wise, your friends might as well do the brackets and notch too...

Whats the point of having a shop do it then?

Hows it going to stay on and in place till you can get too it??? Zip ties and Crazy Glue?

Now I will agree with you that I prefer weld on brackets and such to Bolt on, but the Bolt on stuff that SuicideDoors and other companies makes are just about as good.... If you Do it right and use hardend Bolts, lock washers, etc...

I've used'em and seem used alot...

Also, Several of Air Rides links are weld on and the ones that are not can be welded on...

I can go all day about this...

So I guess we can agree to disagree...

ameteurs= people with no welding experience is what i meant. and i personally dont have the tools to do it myself, as of now. so if i ever get a truck bagged, and have the same skills i have now, a shop will do it (the welding) unless somone loans a welder to me.

as far as putting it in a shop and letting my friends doing it, my friends are seperate from the shop and do their own setups. if i put it in a shop, the shop would do it. if my friends were to help i would be along side helping.

i dont mean to diss a company or whatever, but i just cant stand bolt on stuff. id rather see it cut and welded.

Does it have to be local???

We have a shop around here that can do it...

They have a truck or atleast a feature article in about every issue of Sport Truck Mag or some other..

They were the 1st ones to do a full Airsetup on a Chevy Colorado and have done full airsetups on many vehicles that do not have specific kits made for them...

Some Custom shop do like 98% Collision repair or simple color match type jobs and get in a few custom jobs now and then....

This place I'm refering too, does full on Custom jobs all year round with the occasional collision repair...

The guy one of the most well known in the custom industry... His name is John and he owns Clean Cut Creations, in St. Louis Missouri.... He is one of, if not the only, shop that I know of around here that I would trust to paint my car or especially to cut and do framework on my rides...

Pretty much every car he puts out is a show winner and usaually gets mag coverage at some point...

What supprises me, and I think is a credit to him is people trailer in rides from all over the country for him to do custom work on them; when I know that there are well known shops way closer and in their own areas...

Lastly, the guy has and is now also designing, his own custom frame parts.. Such as Lowered Cross Members, A-Arms, Gas Tank brackets, etc.... etc... for less popular or newer cars and trucks that no one makes them for yet...

You can check him out at www.cleancutcreations.com

Not a lot to see there, but it'll get you the contact info... Call'em up and tell'em one of the St. Louis truck guys sent you..

Hope that helps...

Me too, sorta...

[Threadjack bord of arguing about bag parts]

BTW, Nice Box plans....

Looking at the ones in your sig...

They look pretty cool...Thats something I **** at.... I can figure out Square and Cubic feet all day, but I couldn't tell you a **** thing about designing a port or vent...

I know what they are for and what they do, but the tunning is just over my head.... Could be that I **** at Higher level math... But either way, I'm clueless..

Sounds expensive. REALLLY expensive. I wouldn't have a problem with $3k, but putting much more than that into a truck that I don't really want to keep, would be irresponsible of me. If I have a brain fart, I might just inquire with them on what they think.

Thanks for the heads up.

To keep everything back on subject...

If you're worried about expenses, do a little research on streetsourcemag.com, or any other custom ride forum, and speak to some of the more knowledgeable guys on how to fab up a reliable setup, that won't snap under pressure. Some guys will even offer to help you for little, or no, costs... Maybe a few beers, and you have a small army of helpers!

Try to avoid those that have never installed, or fabricated anything, as they will always offer their .02 on subjects.

You sir= ameteur. You talking like you have all the experience and skill of someone that has done all this before when you dont? You havent even done one bag install to date? I dont know how you cannot call yourself a ameteur, you have no experience!. Air ride techologies might be a little more expensive than most but hell even you can get it together! And to be honest with you anyone with a bolt on 4 link is less of a ameteur than you, and a hell of a more custom ride than you.

I cant stand when people run there mouth off and have no experience whatsoever in the field they are running there mouth off about. You sir need to STFU and listen and learn....

I have a body kit on my car... looks like I have to be a bit more careful.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

My friend has EAI cylinders, he claims they're "awesome" but cylinders just plain **** balls. (At least from what i've experienced).

i never claimed to be more than an ameteur lmao. quote me where i said i was more than that? your right, as of now, anyone with a 4 link has a more custom ride, but would not be true with the truck i used to drive. so as far as me being an ameteur ....yes i am. as far as me needing to listen and learn.......everyone does : ). i have experience with installs, just none as far as frame work is concerned, or wiring like smullen asked how. ive been around when people have done full installs and shit so i've learned from that. and your right, air ride is good products, i jsut dont feel it is worth the cash people have to pay.
