AHHHHH my trunk still rattles

do this.

put in a bass cd

turn up the volume

exit your car and clsoe the doors (keep unlocked)

go to the rear of the car an pin point the source of vibrations

I did this, and found out that it was the license plate.

most times it is the trunk latch. those are tricky.

did you really do 6 layers?

i hope you preped the vack of each layer of Damplifier before you added the next layer

please say you did that?!?!?

what do u mean by prpared the vack????/............ lol i did a preaty ghetto job but it all stuck on good and i put the stock carpet cover over it i did put in a base song and I put my hand on the trunk it was still vibrateing...... so then u put strips around were the trunk closes i still have to ghet the bottom of my box and the inner sides do u thinkt ahts part of it?

hmmm.

what year make and model is the car?

preping the back

most everyone knows that before installing sound damping material its a good idea to prep the mounting surface down with paint thinner or acetone to remove all dirt oil and wax build up. the more clean it is the better the mat will adhere to the mountingsurface.

what most people fail to do thought is prep the surface when adding a second layer of material. in this case the mounting surface is the back of the first layer of material.

there is a small amount of waxy oil on the aluminum, that must be removed before sticking another layer on top of the first layer.

so if you use 6 layers of Damplifier, you have 6 surfaces to prep.

otherwise the adhesive will not be as good as it can be.

you will notice this more so in the heat.
