Alrighty, so I ported the box for my 2 Atlas's and its still not the output Im looking for. The box is 1.8 cu ft. tuned to 30 hz.(per sub), probably not what I was expecting because the space is smaller than I should have. Not a whole lot louder
than when they were sealed. But while I was at it I was like what the heck-ran inside grabbed my old Eclipse sw6123.dvc (lowest eclipse model, rated at 250wrms, dual 4 ohm) stuck it in the box, wired it for 2 ohm, didnt touch the gain, cranked the volume and it wanged pretty good. Darn near as loud as my 2 12 atlas's sealed when at the same volume level. As you can tell I wasnt to concerned about blowing the Eclipse, but I wanged on it pretty good for 30 minutes and it took it like a champ.
So now Im kind of thinking of going with 1 12" sub, something that sounds good and will walk all over my 2 Atlas's SPL wise. I can seal up one of the holes for a sub in my current box, cut out the divider, and Ill have about 3.8 cu. ft. The box will be tuned to 30ish Hz (I have two 4" round Precision Ports Ill use, not sure how much space they will take up)
So whats something that will work well in this box-I have a Diamond D5600.1-600wrms@2ohm.
Im thinking IA LI possibly. I know it wont sound as good as the Atlas's, but it should kill them SPL wise shouldnt it?
Whats something else that would work? RL-p, SE ?? Im looking to stay under 200ish bucks.
(hoping I can sell the atlas's for 200 bucks, and use that money for the new 12, maybe a little more)
