I have an 80A AGU fuse...it came along with my KnuKonceptz Eko 4 gauge kit. It was sufficient for my 500 watt profile amp, but now I have an Xtant amp that doesnt have fuses. The manual for the amp says 80A should be enough, but should I play it safe and up the fuse? In order for me to do that I would have to switch to ANL fuses right? Would that be ok or is it a nono?

If the manual that came with the amp states that 80 amps worth of fusing is sufficient I can't see a necessity to do otherwise...

If you have one amp (as how I read your post, you upgraded to a larger Xtant amp) you need an 80A fuse, no distro block is needed for one amp.

If you are adding the xtant fuse, a distro block would be advised and you can upgrade to the FH-44 which is a Mini-ANL fuse holder and allows fuse sizing up to 150A

You have a fuse. There is no need to add another. If you only have the one amp, you don't need a distro block and if Xtant says that you need an 80A fuse, you don't want to go bigger than that. If anything you would go smaller.

If the manual says 80 amp is sufficient, why not? Like helotaxi said, if anything, you would want a lesser amperage fuse. The bigger you go, basically, the more it takes for it to blow //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Listen to thy manual, and thy equipment shall be nice 2 you (most of the time anyway). Besides, if something does happen to it, don't you have a warranty for it? You can tell them you were running exactly the amount of amps the manual wanted you to run. Warranties FTW.

hold on, my first impression was that the amp has no fuse on it... is thos correct, or are you just saying that you're not sure if the 80A fuse you have now is sufficient? I'm confused

the amp does not use any fuses...i even took the cover off to see if they were hidden or anything, but they are not. I only have an 80A fuse in my inline fuse holder for my 4 gauge.
