Affordable reliable bass, my 2 12" kickers

build a ported box for them, only then will they sound good. you think they sound good now lol I had 4 cvr 15s in sealed enclosures and built a ported box for them and it was like night and day. go ported, ditch the prefab
i really wanted to build one, but i didnt have anything to cut wood with, and just never got around to getting anyone to cut the wood for me. I believe you lol, plus i wanted a fat box but i have a small trunk. I thought about cutting that wall too, but i feel like selling it would be harder :\

great to know lol. didnt really know that. and why did you say remove the rear deck speakers?
same concept like this

Bass actually gets into the cabin, loads off rear glass and gets loud. The box and how it interacts with your car is how you get loud. If you really want those things to slam, get a properly designed 4th order blow through and build the box yourself, you'll be amazed at what the subs can really do.

If you have a good enough front speaker setup, you wont need rear speakers at all.

theres a sealed *** metal wall that lets like 5% of the bass come through.

When i had my E30 BMW i chopped out the deck from speaker to speaker, that left a pretty good sized opening. I had covered it with black grille cloth.

Then, because I felt it wasnt enough, I hacked out MOST of the foam behind the seats. I had openings in the wall behind the rear seat, so I matched

those openings on back of the seat, and thinned out the foam. Inside the car, you couldnt tell, even if you sat in the back seat you couldnt tell that I

had chopped out any foam behind it. This entire process took me about 2 hours.

well my rear speakers somehow both looked like they literally blew up, rubber sorrounding was shreaded and the were rattling. So those have been out anyways, ive never messed with anything though. I know exactly what you're saying, but idk if you mean i have to have the box's port sticking through like his or what

Learn more about what a 4th order bandpass enclosure is.

Also this is what a single 160 dollar quality reliable sub can do, we helped out another guy do a budget build with one, this is with the seats up.

I'm going to look into it. and what about the metal wall sealing the bass out? and that one 12 is doing work

With the seats up, its the same thing as having a metal wall blocking it. Theres thick sheet metal behind the rear seats.

You will still be louder with yours in the trunk rather than the back seat

I had it in the trunk at one point lol, i pretty much couldn't tell i even had 1 12". It really does seal it off man you'd be surprised.

Im still going to look into that box you suggested, but i also am going to look into cutting a big square out of my rear deck, kinda like a port. Put some cloth over it to blend

I'm going through this issue with my brothers BMW 3 series. You need to see if your car has a ski pass weld plate. If it does, it's removable and will allow the bass to come through but it will either need to be hammered out or cut out. Also, I had a kicker before the setup I have now. 2 kickers in the back seat do not hit as hard as my 1 12 in the trunk. Not even close. And 2 kickers in a box cost almost as much as sub and amp combo.

Jeffdachef helped me out big time.

Guy in beasty single 12 vid ^ lol.

Yeah dude if you can cut a square, that would be cool. Or have a port go through the rear deck speakers. Id suggest you buy a custom 4th order box for the trunk with the ports going through the cutted square or the ports going through the rear deck.

well i feel like im getting results lmao. I see what you mean about the rear speaker ports now, didnt make sense to me at first. The thing is, i have never cut wood before, to my suprise one of the saw tables is in my shed though lmao, literally exactly what i need.

I'm thinking about getting lowes to cut it for me, just dont know how much it would end up costing.

You need to pay for a good design and they will give you a cutout sheet, then you can play tetris and fit everything 48 x 96 inch sheet of wood. You can have them make some big cuts and you can make the smaller ones. Use titebone II for wood glue.
