Never built a box using aeroports, someone shed some light on them for me.......My understanding is:

You just insert them into your box, trim them to the length needed to get you at your frequency youre going for.

That about it?

How do you know the displacement of the ports, or is it insignificant?

Also, Ive heard people say that aeroports are louder.....so, in a side by side comparison, one box slot ported, one with aeroports, the one with the aeroports would be louder? A good bit louder, or just a little?

Me= aeroport noob.

"Should" be the same output from both..... never have seen a direct comparo.

You have most of it right, trim to size..... subtract volume of the port (pi*r²*L) or use that to build your box to the correct volume.

Any difference in the ones that are flared at one end, as opposed to flared at both ends?

Is aeroport just a term for them, or is an actual brand? I also see lightning audio aeroport kits on ebay.

It's a term.... flares at both ends will be less prone to have port noise.

Im thinking subs up for my next box.......

Should the ports be on the same plane as the subs, or facing rear, or what?

I think it's usually better to run the ports perpendicular (90 degrees) to the front baffle.
