Aeroported vs Slot

Not sure someone correct me if im wrong but i think its something like you can get away with more box volume with areo ports + the ability of mounting them external . all in all i say its all design dependant making them equally as loud (my opinion)

Aeroport takes up less volume than a slot port so the box can be smaller. The walls of a slot port add bracing. Its hard to always get proper port area with aeroports.

Well you can have "slot" ports that extend out of the box (for instance in cases where you port the box through the rear deck, center armrest, etc.). I find that you have more flexibility with aeroports as the have less displacement to achieve the same tuning frequency (in a way). I like the response more. For the beginners too it's easier to make and design an aero port enclosure in comparison to a slot port.

Adding to the thread, do one or the other generally have a more flat response? I'm currently running a slot-ported box, but I'm working on a design for an aeroport as we speak. Was also wondering all of the pro/cons of each design.

Slot ports

Pros:

Can act as part of the structure for the box.

Relatively cheap.

Easy to obtain material.

Cons:

You'll have to sand both sides to make it round.

Hope you don't spill water on it.

Not as easy to change length.

Aeroports:

Pros:

Aethescitally pleasing.

Already rounded on both sides.

Easy to change length.

Can be easily installed on the outside.

If you have multiple ports then you can lower the tuning frequency by blocking one of the ports with a plug. People do this for home theater quite often.

Cons:

Cost more.

Cannot be part of the supporting structure.

Harder to obtain (you'll have to order it on the internet).

^^^ That's all I can think off the top of my head. As far as which sounds better... I think they both sound the same if properly installed.

Aeroports are tremendously more efficient when it comes to flowing air, thats why you can get away with far less port area per cubic foot than compared to slots.

It all comes down to fluid dynamics (yes airflow applies to this), think about it, why are pipes round and not square, rectangluar etc? Because round designs flow the best and are the most efficient, if this was NOT the case, then you would see different shaped pipes other than round ones. Theres the real answer right there.

If you answered that aeros have different sq or cant get enough port area or some other lame excuse, obivously they have little experience with aeros and have diaherrea of the mouth trying to act like they know otherwise.
