aeroport expert??? what legnth for my box???

alright...i finally got my 18" re mt's reconed... im putting both of them in a T shaped box that is roughly 15. cubes before speaker and port displacement... I want to know if i should do regular rectangular port or aeroports...if aero ports.. how many should i get? what diameter and what length if i want it tuned to 36 hertz. i can figure the rectangular ports myself.. just not the aeroports... thanks and please let me know....

Can anyone tell me how many of the 6" ports i would need so i dont have air drag or port noise??? or how many 4" ports i would need???

yea. i talked to my buddy and he said to do 4 6" aero's... but i looked it up and it would be cheaper to do 6 4" aeros.... would that be the same thing???

A lot of the SPL guys I've talked to feel that a single 6" works better than 2 4" aero's. If you go with the 4" aero's, I'd do at least 4 per 18. 3 4" aero ports isn't much for a 18, that's about the amount of port I run for a 12.

alright... well all i know is that it would be cheaper to do the 4"er's.. but if i would need to get more than 6 than it would balance out eventually... but 4 6" aero's will do the job.. that just means im gonna spend about $120 on shaped plastic.. ****

If you want to save $$ you could always go with a slot port. Aero's just have the benefit of easy adjust ability and can be reused.

With a little fiberglassing work, you can make your own aeroports out of mdf and sonotubes

i would rather buy them... if you know somebody that is able to make me those ports then i would be more than happy to pay them for it..... If you know of anyone that is good with fiberglass/bondo or molding that will make me 2 10" aeroports or 4 6" aeros??? ill post a thread for someone to have them make me some... thanks guys..

They would charge more than you can just buy them for. There is a lot of work and time involved with making them out of sonos, FG and mdf. After they tack on their charge for time then shipping, the cost would easily go over what you buy the aeros for.

BTW 4x 6" aeroports is no where near the same as 6x 4" aeroports.

6" = 28 sqin x 4 = 112 total sqin.

4" = 12.5 sqin x 6 = 75 total sqin.

Even 8x 4" aeros won't give you the amount of area that 4x 6" do.
