AE AV12 vs. Dayton 12" Titanic MKIII

I have narrowed my search to two subs.

Choice A - Acoustic Elegance AV12 - $150

Choice B - Dayton 12" Titanic MKIII - $159.66

I will be using a single sub in a sealed box in the trunk of a Civic Coupe. A Phoenix Gold X600.1 will be driving it. Just so you don't have to look it up - that amp puts out 600w rms at 1, 2 and 4 ohms.

Here are my thoughts:

The AV12 is DVC @ 2 ohms so I can run the sub @ 1 ohm. The xmax on this sub is unreal. I like the look of the aluminum cone.

The MKIII is SVC @ 4ohms so the amp will run cooler. I would assume the single voice coil will mean less mass to move and possibly better sound quality.

I spend 2+ hours in the car every day so SQ is very important. I am investing in an expensive CDT front stage driven by a Phoenix Gold X100.2. I want the sub to sound as good as my mids and tweets. With that said - about once a week I like to turn up the bass and get a good back massage. Don't worry - I live out in the middle of nowhere. That explains the 2 hour commute.

This is a tough choice for me. What do you think?

98% of the stuff in that is ******** (svc = better sound quality???) but i'd take the dayton since i have the 15 and it's unreal

So wire the AV12's coils in series rather than parallel. Now they are both 4ohm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Simple answer; Nope.

Yes, The Dayton has less moving mass. But that doesn't inherently mean better sound quality.

However, the Dayton does have a very nice Bl curve, which would enhance sound quality.

Jack Frost Both are excellent drivers, but for displacement's sake I'd have to give the nod to the Dayton.
??

The AV12 has more linear displacement than the Titanic.

Ah...I misread the original post, I thought it was a comparison between the 15" Dayton and the AV12 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

sq oriented? get a pair of idq12v2d2's. i bet you would be very happy with them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

and they excell in small sealed boxes too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i love my 15's
