Advantages of getting pro installation?

What are the advantages of getting a professional installation? I've been reading a lot on the boards, and reading about electronics etc... I think with a little bit more knowledge I could do it myself. The only reason I fear getting a professional installation is because I wont know what the hell they put in my car without having to take it appart. Know what I mean? like...if they put fuses,,and if they did what kind?....did they set the gain to full blast and run 600W RMS to both my shivas RIGHT WHEN THEY TOOK THEM OUT OF THE BOX, and then give the car back to me...etc...

Ah, what I mean is...are professional installations reliable? can these people be trusted?...how do most of you get your stuff installed?

A lot of installers get paid for how many jobs they do, and as a result, occasionally do sloppy work. Try to find a smaller shop and have them go over exactly what they're going to do, how they're going to do it, and what the end result will be like.

I would always try to do it yourself. Not worth paying for, plus with me Car Audio has been a learn as u go process. So if you plan to stay with car audio and make it a serious hobby I would suggest doing it yourself to gain knowledge and experience.

HAHA, yea, I'm freaked about myself too, as far as my system, I didnt drill any holes, lol I've found ways of not putting any holes in my car (its new) and I have my neon light in the interior Ghetto-fied, lol with some Elastic bands and my Sun Visors, but it stays and looks tight from the outside.

With pro installers, you just have to talk to them...ask what they're gonna do, and make sure that they are competent in what they say. If they stutter, and BS, move on.

hey minorskills you said not drilling holes i hope and pray your not talking about liquid nails right?? yeah pro installers just double check with the people at the shop to if your spending money there they typically will tell you how good or bad a certain installer is just to give you the heads up or at least most shops do that here in ausin.

it voids the warranty on some products if they arent 'professionally installed' ...but oh well...id rather do it myself and save a bunch of money cause i know im not gonna screw anything up.

I would say try it urself man!!! Or find someone local who did their own and have them help ya, if u cannot ask any of us on here. We will help as much as possible over the net. This is a great hobby to be in on and u should do just fine in it.
