Advantages/Disadvantages for Reconing & ReBasketing?

Dude, make a crate. Trust me.

I've shipped plenty of big *** subs and I've always crated them up...because UPS/FedEx/whoever always finds a way to bust shit up.

Pay the $6 to have UPS pack it if you can't make the crate. You'd be pissed if they broke your $300-400 sub and wouldn't cover the insurance. Make sure the box you use is hard cardboard too, none of the flimsy crap.

you think i can just go there and bring my sub and telll them to help me package it and pay them? because i work for a shipping called DHL, and i get discount on next day shipping. Which is what i want to do, i dont want to custom my package at work.

Put some cheap plywood on the bottom, and screw 4 supports in on either corner. They put a top piece of plywood in and and screw that to the 4 posts.

And fill with a padding of your choosing.

Why wouldn't the VC sit like it did originally? Unless they did a half-*** job of fully removing the old spider, or aligning the VC, it should be just as it was brand new.

Place MDF (i dont have plywood) on the bottom. Create 4 supports, apply one on each corner. Add top piece of MDF,and screw it in. Now, where does the sub lay?

It goes b/w the top and bottom MDF. The supports in the corners should be barely taller than the sub itself...

Also, before you send it in for the recone... you should blow it up. Like wall socket it, and video it...
