Advantages/Disadvantages for Reconing & ReBasketing?

Decided i want to recone and rebasket my 12" RE XXX to an 18"

Before i send it out tomorrow, i would love to know what are the advantages and disadvantages in reconing and rebasketing the sub?

Are you sure RE has the parts in stock for 18" xxx?

They updated the wooger, so before you rip it apart, ask them.

Well youll need a bigger box for one. And depending on the car, 18" might not fit.

Also its gonna cost a pretty good amount for them to do it. With shipping and everything.

I'd probably use scrap peices of MDF to build a baffle and some supports inside of a quality cardboard box.

Why wouldn't the VC sit like it did originally? Unless they did a half-*** job of fully removing the old spider, or aligning the VC, it should be just as it was brand new.

If you can't make a crate, just take it to UPS and have them package and insure it for you. If anything happens, you're guaranteed to get the money. Sometimes they won't cover your insurance if they don't pack it themselves since they may say it was packaged poorly.

hmm would it be bad if i wrap my sub with alottttttttttt x100 bubble wrap? and then place alot of newspaper and popcorn those confetti like white pieces all inside the cardboard box???
