adjusting gains on amp ?

Ok I have a 1051s fosgate power amp, my question is on setting gains, ok the gains do they have to be in the middle or almost all the way turned up to max ?

I know on using a 50hz tone and a dmm but I want to know gains go to max or by the middle ? I hope I'm understanding......

ok also there is a bass knob do I even use this ? or do I set it all the way up ?

set gains to wherever you get the right voltage, according to jl's tutorial.

i personally dislike the bass boost and turn it all the way down.

cool I'll do that then I have voltage where is suppose to be on amp I hope is ok since my gains are almost to full scale since my deck is a deh-p3500 I believe it has a 2volt rca.... I had to crank almost to full (volume 60) to get the 32.4 volts for each gain on amp is this even ok ?

Ok also I suppose I dont use the subwoofer control on cd deck since I think is to be use on full pass on everything please someone correct me if I'm wrong
