Adjusting gains/crossover help

i have my amp crossed over at 80 hz and i'm adjusting my gains for max performance.. would using an 80 hz tone and adjusting gain untill it distorts and backing it up from there be the best way to do it?.. also i have my amp & deck crossed over at 80hz, but i heard since the deck only feeds 80hz (or lower) to the amp anyway, i can just turn the amps crossover to max?

What are you trying to set the gains for? Full range or subs? What are you hooking it to, how many ohms are the voicecoils and how much power do you want to use.

i have a kicker zx750.1 hooked up to 2 12'' Kicker CVR's at 2 ohms.. each CVR is 400 watts rms

i followed that video but wasnt sure why i had to set loudness to off, hpf/lpf to off, and eq to flat.. if i change it back to all those settings after setting it to the right gain, wouldnt it make the amp clip again?

I'm going to assume Dual so you will run these series/parellel for a 2-ohm final load.

Sqrt(750*2) = 38.72983 volts Personally, since this is at the top of the amps specification, I would run in a bit under that....but I just don't use kicker amps enough to know the dependability and that is why I am saying this. So I would replace the 750 with 725 or 700.

You bring up a good point. The real answer is yes, you could actually clip the amp for a moment when turning that all back on BUT music is dynamic and you only hit full potential for moments and it is not constant.
