Adjusting db+- on head unit sends more voltage to amplifier???

My max volume goes to 35. I listen to it at 25-28. At volume 25 and my db set to +9 on my head unit the volt meter bounces around between 13.2-13.7 and at that same volume when I raise my db level to +15 the voltage meter reads 14-14.2

I've got a ken wood Exelon head unit, two AB Xfl 12's on a Vfl 150.1 with the big 3 and an Exide group 31 Agm

All I can think of is the amp is some how starving for current ...by feeding it more its running more efficient and not pulling the load from the vehicles electrical as bad...

dude, you want to set your gain with the decks sub volume set to the middle. the -15 to +15dbs (or whatever the numbers are) on the deck, is for flexibility, so if a song has too much bass or not enough, you can tweak it without screwing up how your main speakers sound

when you set your amp gain, you want all you settings (eq, deck sub volume, etc) set to their middle position, so 0 or 6 or -6.. whatever is the middle for YOUR deck

some decks go from -15 to 0. some go from -12 to +12. some go from 0 to +15. theyre all different

This is great news! I have blown 2 amps already due to under powering them but I couldn't figure it out because I have a group 31 agm and the amp was only 2k rms so I was like wtf?!

So you have only 1 battery or that in addition to a primary battery? What subs? What impedance?

Personally I'd never use more than +3 on that sort of setting since the pitiful internal amp in a head unit is probably the first thing to over drive into clipping. Why are people so scared of the gain pot on their amp?

The amp I blew twice was a Brutus BRZ 2400.1D the first time was before I gt my spare battery and the second time was after I got the spare battery. I have an 860 cca wet cell under the hood and the agm in the trunk.

I haven't had any problems with the new amp, my Vfl 150.1 other than some vibration damage from the previous owner which has been addressed. I just want to be safe so I don't blow this thing...

I'm running two AB xfl 12's @ 1 ohm to the vfl 150.1
