i have used these and they work great. so ur fan can run if you stop at a gas station or anywhere and continue to cool while the car is off...

you use a relay with these too....

am i screwing the unit to the amp?do they make a lead that i can connect to the unit them to the amp

it has to be surface mounted to the amp. no there is no lead to extend it. you could always get a pc temp monitor system and use that i've seen that done before too.
