has anyone got this sub? I would like a sub that sound like a brahma,but with maelstroms power handling. any input on this sub would be appreciated.

the maelstrom 15. its 1000 watt rms. thats what I would be giving it. The brahma is only 600 rms

The Brahma can easily take 1000wrms. 600 is the recommended amount to put to it. They are underrated. Last years were rated at 1600wrms, which I think was pink noise RMS.

before you start taking advice from people here on sending subs 100% more than what there rated for realize its dependent on application/ box size, the old brahmas could reach full xmax with as little as 600 in a big box, and could take as much as 1600 in a tiny box.

Not to mention the new Brahma has a smaller coil, which decreases it's thermal power handling.

Now, back to the original question.....you are basically looking for a SQL 18" sub that can handle ~1000w RMS?

Not exactly true...

Old brahma's were using 3" diameter coils, yes...

But the surface area on the new unit is greater.

3" x 1.1" vs. 2.5" x 1.35"
