THE STEREOTYPE FIGHTER!!!
hey kids,

shortdude is here.... looking for some advice for a new laptop. 1st and foremost, i would like to use it to record music. i use audacity to get music from youtube, soundcloud, bandcamp and other websites. when i record the music, somehow someway, the music itself either isnt loud enough to hit 0.0db on the volume meter on audacity OR the soundcard in some laptops doesnt let the volume get high enough to hit 0.0db on the audacity meter. laptop with a great soundcard or as best as possible.

#2 i would like to do some gaming on it lol. when i had an xbox my FAV game on there was left 4 dead 1 and 2. i 'd play that for hours and hours and hours and hours..... since microsoft said the xbox one is gonna be backwards compatible, ive been waiting for L4D to be puton the list. i doubt its gonna happen within the next 8 -9 months. so i would like to do some "light gaming" on it. games im looking at are left 4 dead 1 and 2, dying light, Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide, call duty 4, call of duty MW2, mortal kombat x, and some older games maybe, circa 2006 - 2011.

1.) looking for laptop with a great great sound card to use for audacity

2.) "light gaming"

what would i like?

- full hd screen with really nice colors

- 12 or 16gb ram

thanks all...........

8-12gb of RAM is plenty. focus on a graphics card, fast processor, and a small 250-500gb solid state hard drive (SSD). many of the good companies will allow you to customize the audio card for something higher quality, consider external sound cards as well - laptops dont have a lot of real estate internally.

good brands i buy from new are acer, dell, and asus. stay away from HP and other cheap brands if you want a laptop that will last enough years to be resold later.

Get some laptop soundbars or use nice headphones. The sound card idea is just not gonna do much at all. You'll need to do the SSD upgrade yourself because most laptops that have the SSD built in are way overpriced. Just make sure that the Hard drive is easily accessible by checking youtube vids on how to take apart that specific model. Also with all that gaming, go for 500 gb with your SSD. To be honest man, laptops are pretty horrible for gaming, even the highest end gaming laptops are ages weaker than an 800 dollar pc you built yourself.

hey jeff, i was tryna do a laptop so i can take it places with me for when i wanna record some music. do the speakers themselves have to be loud?? not too loud, but when i record music the "internal sound" has be loud (for lack of a better phrase) i guess its like the speaker on the back of your phone doesnt need to be loud, even if you turn the volume up all the way. put if you plug headphones into it and turn the volume half way up?? omg those headphones will pound!! thats what i mean.

and those games i listed..... is that considered "light gaming"?

OH FUCK YES. Bro I've missed the shit out of your retarded threads! I am so glad you're back! We don't currently have a member that will ask a bunch of stupid shit and try to get advice simply to ignore every single bit of in the end and go full potato in another direction. YOU'LL FIT RIGHT IN!
jesus peanut butter CHRIST!!!! you're still here......over 28k posts. u must be the ca.com king by now. and u didnt miss me pipeswallower.... if you did u woulda sent me a PM.

since you're here your gonna help me fuqur. so 1st and foremeost , when i right click on the speaker icon and go to 'recording devices' and click on that, a box will pop up. when i right click anywhere inside that box, i hit 'show disabled devices' and 'stereo mix' will pop up. i click on that and make it my default device...... and i then disable the mic array/microphone. now i can 'record what i hear'.........

everytime i go to a electronics store i do this, since not every laptop can. if the option doesnt even pop up, i pass on the computer. i tried googling 'list of laptops with stereo mix' but nothing.

now, what is considering light gaming?
