Adding subwoofers

I'm considering buying two 15" subwoofers, but I want to go ahead and replace my two 12s with one of them, will there be a huge problem if I get the one 15" sub, play it long enough to get the second 15" sub, and then put them both in?

in theory it shouldnt cause a problem, just when you add the second sub drop the gain down slightly to give it some break in time.

Well, my intent is to buy one, because that's all I have the money for now, put it in a box. Then buy the second one when I have the money, and make a second box for both of them.

You would be out more money that way. Better off buying one sub and just keep using yoru 12s and then get the 2nd 15 when you have funds and do a custom enclosure specific for your application. If you just tossing them in prefab enclosures then its would just be a waste of funds in my opinion.

I'll make the box, I wouldn't buy a prefab, I wouldn't bother carpeting it, I'd be out at most 20 bucks for the MDF.

tbh, my 12s aren't sounding as good as they used to, so I'm gonna try to sell the subs and the box for 100 dollars, and just put the 15 in until i can get the second one.
