I am going to add another bat.

right now its 0/1 with a 150 amp fuse near the front battery

this runs to a fused distro in the back

I am going to add a second battery in the back so i take the power wire efrom the front battery go to a 150 fuse then to the second battey then to the fused disrto

do I need another fuse some where

You need to fuse every wire coming from a POS+ post of any battery within 18 inches of the battery. So that would mean a wire running between 2 batteries needs 2 fuses, one on each end. You can now use the rear battery as your distro block. Make sure to ground your amps to the rear battery now since that is the POS+ source as well.

Never fuse according to amplifier, fuse it to the amount of current your wire can handle.
X2, thats how you would do it for the main power wire, but most would recommend using a fuse rated for the amp on the smaller power wires running directly to your amp. For those you need to check your amps manual and see what they require. 0/1 ga wire is good for 350 amps.

Always, always, fuse based on your wire. If your wire is rated at 200a, use a 200a fuse. If it is rated at 100a, use a 100a fuse. Most 1/0 I have seen is rated at 300a, but that is up to the manufacturer to decide.

You can under fuse the wire, but you don't want to fuse it for more than it's rated for. For a basic street system a 300 amp fuse will do fine for 0/1 ga runs. 0/1 ga is normally rated for around 350 amps, but can be used for much higher loads too, like Loop said, this depends on the manufacturer. I know guys that will draw over 500 amps (unfused) through shorter runs of 0/1 ga without any problems, but thats not recommended on long runs.

The reason why I am more conservative is that there are noobs here that read our advice and take it as good advice. If you tell them that they can run without fuses or that all wire is a certain rating, they will run with that info. It would be much more helpful to the noobs to show them how we figure this stuff out ourselves so they can decide for themselves, instead of coming back here a week later with the burnt car story.

Electronics are not really all that hard to figure out. Just follow the electrons. If it were water in a pipe, everyone would know what to do.

Good point. I run without fuses at comps, but I'd never risk my vehicle by running without them on a daily basis. I've seen some good pics of a competition car that burned to the ground cause he didn't have fuses and shorted out a power wire.

NM I found my answer.
