Adding Aux to Factory Head Unit

Im trying to add a aux to my factory 03' cts bose head unit. I tried doing this diy i found on cadillacforums. com its called How to aux (line-in) on cts without sat radio. I did this but my only problem is that when I flip the switch there isnt audio coming from my speakers when i plug in my ipod. Can you tell me how you would've have wired this or can you give me your own schematic of this

we have no idea what you did, so no way to comment on your methods. describe in detail. did you buy an interface? PAC-Audio, USA Spec, and Grom Audio sell them.

most aftermarket add-on AUX adapters don't work with Bose headunits. that's just one downside of a "premium" system.

What I did was get 2 relays one for the right and left channel and put them on a circuit board. Then what i did was cut my radio wire harness, connect the wires coming from the speakers to one side of the relay and the wires coming from the radio I connected those to the other side of my relays, after that i connected the rest of the wires to my aux and my switch. here is the diy i did for references http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-cts-first-generation-forum-2003/237768-how-aux-line-cts-without-sat.html

Wouldnt an FM modulator have been the easiest choice?

you must have misunderstood the detail. obviously, doing this only lets you power the speakers from an alternate source - a headphone output is not adequate for powering low impedance speakers.

you would need to intercept the wires between the head unit and the Bose amp to have a chance at this, but you would need to intercept all signals, front and rear, left and right.

Yea it would be but I heard the audio is terrible

With the wires im intercepting now I think thats what its doing on a wiring diagram i looked at the wires i tapped into are coming from the bose amp and the are controlling the whole left and right channels. also here is the link again and a picture of what im doing [HOW-TO] AUX (Line-in) on CTS without sat radio and here is the image/schematic Cadillac forums : Cadillac Owners Forum

gotcha. ok, then the idea is solid.

if it doesn't work, note the head unit needs to be on in order to turn the Bose amp on.

You would be better running a fm mod. I simple is a decent one.

Did you look at the instructions/schematic? If so can you tell me how you wouldve went about doing this.

I ran a metra fmmod on my premium jbl system and it was decent. It was a while ago but it worked with very little noise. Believe it or not I used a $10 chinese wireless one and it had zero noise.
