Adding an EQ. Benefit/Hassle??

I'll make it simple. My goal is clarity and SQ.

I have the Sony gt-510 Headunit, Dls up35's, DLS A7 amp and a single 12" IDQ. Everything seems adjusted well considering the filters on the amp and the xovers so this is where im stuck. For this particular setup would an EQ even been needed or would it just be a big hassle with really no benefit as far as clarity and SQ goes?

Nice and simple, experience and help would be appreciated.

The EQ i had in mind was the Kenwood KGC-9044.

If it sounds fine to you, no point in messing with an EQ...but it's a useful tuning aid if you have unwanted peaks in the system...

that somewhat confirms what i've been thinking, theres a lot of midbass up front BUT im a diehard midbass fan, can never have enough so my thinking was that it could be adjusted with one and how much.

i use a clarion eqs746 eq and i love it. i find it much more easier to tweak the fine points in the band. it just gives you more control of the entire spectrum. plus mine has sub control which is nice to have for a quick adjustment if your amp doesnt have a remote knob.

interesting. but how difficult is it to adjust quickly, lets say for a certain song that comes on. having not used one i was thinking they were difficult to adjust and took time. maybe my "idea" is wrong, idk.

i have a din and 1/2 opening so my eq is mounted right below my head unit. just reach up and turn a knob.

how many bands are you looking at? 30 bands would take all day to reconfigure, where as a 7 or 12 band could take a few minutes, like casper said

i think im just looking at like an 11 band, but i may just hold off a little until i see a need for one. although i'd love to have one i cant complain with what i have, i went all out and am VERY satisfied.
