adding a 3rd battery

I have battery under hood (large new battery), powermaster d3100 in the back and adding at least 1 more 3100 in the back. Probably putting d3400 in the front also. I have 2 runs of 1/0 gauge going to the 3100 now in the back. Can i just run positive wire from that 3100 to the other one or two that I am getting, run grounds from new ones to the one I already have, and just use the 1 ground I have now? Or do I need to ground each battery in the back seperately?

i have pos hooked to pos in back. Then grounded to the frame in the back. I wanted to link all pos together and then all neg together then just ground 1 time in the back on the frame

Positive from front battery to the back battery positive. Then from that positive to the positives of any more batts you have back there. Then connect all the negatives to each other from the back batts then ground it to chassis if possible if not then body just make sure its zeroed. If you have the cable dont ground the back batteries in the back run 2 leads of 1/0 from the grounds on the back batteries to the front battery negative then ground off of just the front battery. If you connect your amp grounds to the negative grounds on the back battery or batteries then run 3 leads of ground from back batt to front batt.

??? Wait im confused is it ok to run 3 batts with the stock alt?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

You can but your not gonna be charging the 2nd and 3rd battery for shit if it its a weak alternator but if its putting out roughly 100 to more amps then you will prob get away with it. Just make sure all the grounds are zeroed. And connections are secure.

This is what I am talking about doing. I already have the 2 runs of 1/0 gauge power to back. I am just going to hook all positives together. Then I already have back battery grounded to frame. I will hook all negatives together then ground to frame like I am now. Then I have all my amps grounded to Frame seperately.

That will work but the method i told you is optimal it will make sure there is no fight in your grounds through the entire circuit all assuming all connections are secure. But i have my shit grounded the way you do now and im good my voltage is hella good. Just make sure you put 2 leads of 1/0 for grounds off the back batts since you have 2 leads of positive going to them.

ok, thanks. Hopefully I will get my other batteries this week. Ordering a MLA module also this week.
Im hoping to order my MLA this week to.

But no matter what any one tells you according to physics as long as grounds are zeroed its not gonna change where they are or how many you have. Just a little advice to follow on your system or anyone else's system you work on or see.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

sorry for jumping in on this thread but am I reading this correctly? I have 2 batts in back, i need to connect positive and negative between the two, then ground off to the chassis from 1 battery or both? What were you saying was optimal grounding from just one or both?

-I have 1 run of positive 1/0 from the front if that helps any.
